What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sowful Hands is a Natural Hair Maintenance, braid, and loc shop. Our customers are anyone wanting to experience hair growth with protective styles and deeply massaged washed.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Christina Ford, and I began studying the science of hair and what it takes to keep my hair healthy and to use products that will not break me out because I suffer from eczema.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My big accomplishment is continuing the education of a gift that was God-given and knowing that I now have something to leave to my family for generations to come.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part is providing opportunities for the community and keeping it professional and not personal. I give everyone a chance, and I have to watch for 90 days.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you are absolutely ready because once you get started, there is no stopping point. Keep pushing.
  2. Do not mix personal with the business; it will ruin relationships.
  3. Always remember your reason for pushing for your goals and dreams.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love to share that my experience, in the beginning, was challenging, but I stayed on track and finished my first race. This is just the beginning for Sowful Hands; with continued education, I will be opening up a Braiding and Loc Class.
