What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a podcast that talks a lot about mental health and addictions, amongst other things. At the end of the day, I am building a community around it over on Instagram @depthsofdarkside and on YouTube as well. I believe everyone's story is valuable at the end of the day, does not matter what walk of life you come from. Anyone is welcome on my platform who would like to share their story!
Tell us about yourself
I am recovering addict who has been clean just over two years now. I live life one day at a time. I started this show in hopes of reaching others who wanted to share their story. I started this podcast at the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020. It started as a passion project but has grown too much more. I am an advocate for those suffering from mental health issues and an advocate for those who have ADHD, as I also have that, which is considered a mental illness. It is an everyday struggle with it, but the more I talk about my struggles, it helps others. I was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, but now reside in Guelph, Ontario. I am avid about hockey, golf and love the outdoors.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment, I would have to say, is the help I have done for others who are still out there struggling. I love that I can be a voice for the voiceless.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing, I think, would have to be, being consistent with your content! And learning new skills all the time. It is all about trial and error.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you find your niche.
- Do your research.
- Be prepared to do things wrong and learn from your mistakes.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Just remember things do not happen overnight. You must be patient with life. Life is not a destination. It's a journey. Enjoy it!
