Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Gillett, Owner of Chris Gillett Studios, located in Houston, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a high-end business headshot photographer. I specialize in making kick-ass people look like they are extremely confident, good at what they do, and successful while also being trustworthy, likable.

Tell us about yourself

I used to be a trial lawyer, and the bozos who took my headshots always made me look terrible. I had no idea what to do in front of the camera, and they just left it up to me. Once I figured out how to look kick ass in a headshot, it was addicting, and I loved sharing it with my clients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being booked out weeks in advance is very rewarding, but I think the best thing I’ve done is honing my business to be a very specific thing for very specific people. It’s not going to be for everyone, but for some folks, it will be the only game in town.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It’s hard when you are responsible for everything. I need to delegate more.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be very specific about what you do, who you do it for, and why you do it.

Where can people find you and your business?
