What's your business, and who are your customers?
We're a strategic management and consulting company with an emphasis on leadership development. Our customers are wide-ranging, from government organizations wanting to make a difference to organizations who wish to develop actual leaders rather than just employ managers.
Tell us about yourself
This is my second business; my first was a high-tech start-up launched in 1992. After successfully selling that company in 2006, my passion became helping others become more successful. CHOINQUE LLC launched in 2010, and since then, what has energized me is supporting the over 2,000 clients and leadership experience attendees around the world who seek a more authentic leadership and personal lifestyle.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
All the benefits of an independent lifestyle, increasingly a focus on an abundance mindset. For example, a continuous focus on self-improvement and learning and the ability to support causes dear to our family.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Realizing that who you are and your success has nothing to do with the prior title held or position when working for someone else in the past.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You can launch a new business in parallel while having a stable source of income. They're not mutually exclusive. Give your new business a runway to grow.
- If you can launch your business without traditional funding sources such as venture capital, even better.
- Find out who you really trust and ask for help launching the business, especially when seeking first clients.
