What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a bakery and restaurant in the heart of Coral Gables. We bake fresh every day; everything is artisanal. We have many options, from breakfast to lunch specials and the best desserts, of course.
We love giving our customers the best service. We have our local customers as well as new customers every day who either have been told to find us or find us through our social media.
Tell us about yourself
I started to work as a counter attendant in a well-known bakery called Biga Bakery, and then I realized how much I enjoyed working there. The customers that would go there would think I was the owner of the bakery because they saw how much love and passion I would put into my work.
I would work as if it were my own business, and I would always tell everyone that one day I would have my own bakery, and well, 18 years later, here I am with my own bakery in the heart of Coral Gables.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment so far has been getting my company a registered trademark. Hopefully, very soon, we will grow into the wholesale business as well as ship everywhere in the United States.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
There are so many, but one of them would be having to dedicate pretty much 95% of my time to my business. Don't get me wrong, though; I love what I do, and I do it happily every day, appreciating everything I have achieved.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I have so many tips, but I would say my top 3 are:
- You must love what you do, be patient, and be creative.
- Never lose consistency in anything you do in life.
- Be perseverant, just like my name suggests.
