Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liliya and Albert Chernogorov, Owners of Chernogorov Photography, located in Henderson, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are Liliya and Albert with Chernogorov Photography, a husband and wife destination wedding photographers capturing love stories in Las Vegas and beyond. We passionately photograph understated elegance, unexpected moments, honest expressions, and timeless memories.

As a husband and wife team, we aim to truly connect with our couples guiding them through the photography experience in order to make it highly personalized and special to every couple. We eagerly look forward to working with couples who appreciate the artistry and each other.

We absolutely love traveling and taking pictures. If you browse our social media, you will find that we constantly travel around the US and Europe for work and leisure.

Tell us about yourself

Both of us have passions deeply rooted in artistic expression. Albert has been a photographer since high school and has been doing that professionally ever since, while Liliya has always been passionate about fashion, design, and photography.

Our tale goes back to Europe, where we actually deeply fell in love in a heartbeat and became husband and wife. We fastly learned that we are like YIN and YANG when we started working together as a team. What reflects us as family business owners is the fact that we complement each other both privately and professionally. If you take a peek at our image galleries, you will notice both of our influences and how we blend them seamlessly. A short while later, we felt like we needed to broaden our horizons and moved straight to the US.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Accomplishing the dream that we were both passionate about. As time passes, we are truly grateful for what we accomplished and for realizing one of our dreams - to do what we are passionate about. Traveling across the US and Europe, documenting the most meaningful days of a couple's life, turning meaningful memories into a tangible form of art.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

We think that one of the hardest things as a business owner is to take a break. We constantly work and think about the business, what we can improve, and what is the next step. It is sometimes hard to shut down your emotions and just enjoy free time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Patience - we cannot emphasize it enough. Being a business owner is like planting a tree. You plant it, then you take care of it, and with time you can enjoy the fruits. Patience is key.
  2. Passion - do what you are passionate about. If you see your work as what you love doing, then you will not feel like you are working. It is more like you are doing your hobby.
  3. Flexibility - being a business owner is like a roller coaster. Being flexible to maneuver over difficult times or changes is very important. Having a different mindset, you will have a different outcome, be flexible.
