Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rafael Olintho, Founder of Chef Olintho, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is catering and an Agency specializing in Private Chefs.

Tell us about yourself

Like most of the cooks, I started in a restaurant, and it was great to get experience and understand about how everything worked, but after some point, I got bored cooking in the same location, so I started to do some private events here and there, after some events I realized how cool and dynamic it was.

Do you know love at first site? So I fell in love with that life, quit my restaurant life, and started my own catering business ((almost 17 years ago). Yes, I'm not that young :D ), and I keep going until now. Every time I do an event, I feel I am part of the party. The high energy is contagious, and it is impossible not to be involved in that, plus doing what I love to do. This keeps me motivated to keep going further.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to cook for very important guests and help people working with me have a career.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keeping the business running during tough times like in 2020.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself.
  2. Keep positive thoughts.
  3. Learn from your and other people's mistakes.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Always look forward and keep going!!!!
