Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in social media, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Beverley Theresa of Throwdown Social Media of Edmonton, Canada.

What's your business and who are your customers?

I help businesses and brands not suck at social media marketing through training, consulting and social media management.

Tell us about yourself

I have been in the social media industry for over 9 years, I first started as a freelance social media manager and then started the social media department at one of my province's largest digital marketing agencies.

I wanted to be able to talk to clients 1:1 and give them the attention they needed so 4 years ago I started my own business. As a Social Media Strategist, I love sharing my knowledge of social media with business owners and other marketers so not only are they streamlining their own processes but also using social media strategically to reach their goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to speak on stage about social media marketing at multiple conferences and events throughout Canada.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing would be knowing when to log off. I'm always connected to work whether it's on my laptop, desktop computer or my smartphone, it's easy to get wrapped up in work 24/7.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Stop overthinking it and just do it.

It's difficult at first, but you'd be surprised at the support network of friends and family you have.

It's always going to be scary and you'll always be hesitant, but if you can just go for it, do it!
