Live Digital Caricatures - Cesar Caricatures

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in caricature but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cesar Andres Vargas Vega, Founder & Digital Caricature Artist of Cesar Caricatures, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I generate positive feelings in people through caricatures. I go to any kind of event: Corporate events, Weddings, Birthdays, Bar mitzvahs, Sweet 16, etc. The process is a screencast to a large monitor so audiences can enjoy it as a performance, while the drawings can be a great giveaway for guests. Includes customizable logos, borders, and text for each event with on-site printing, online access, and additional options such as group portraits. Full color or monochrome digital caricatures are completed very quickly and give your guests a memento of that particular event clients include the University of Toronto, Cineplex, McDonald's, Domo, Toronto Police Department, and many more.

Tell us about yourself

I have been drawing since I was a little boy; I remember sitting on the floor drawing superheroes and making all kinds of noises; even at school, I just ignored my teachers and drew them on my notebooks. I never thought this would be my job as an adult. Then, I immigrated to Canada from Colombia in 2012 with the dream of creating a business with my sketches, and here I am, making my dream come true. I love to do it is very funny drawing caricatures, and people love them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

On a personal level, I believe that in all the events in which I have participated, I have had the fortune that the guests enjoy my art, have fun, and they go home with a unique piece of art as a memory for their events. Also, I've been drawing caricatures in many different parts of the world: Cancun, Paris, the Dominican Republic, Barcelona, and more.

On the other hand, at the business, I think that achieving large contracts with recognized brands has been a great step in my business. We are creating a program with a well-known psychiatrist in The City of Paris, with the purpose that children with autism achieve, through personalized cartoons, following certain guidelines of behavior at home and at school, which aims to make life easier for children, parents, and educators around them.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think finding the right tools to increase the number of customers and sales and to have the time to dedicate to all business tasks.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be Focused.
  2. Be patient.
  3. Enjoy the process.
