Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lise Janelle, CEO of Centre for Heart Living, located in Toronto, ON, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a coaching business. I help driven people who want to succeed in life by attaining their goals quicker. Individuals who are results-driven are interested in working with me. I help clients find subconscious beliefs preventing them from living their full potential.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business when I attended the breakthrough experience with Dr. John Demartini. My transformation took me from a place of "my life sucks" to extreme gratitude, which led to my goal of sharing the transformative experience with as many people as possible. My motivation source is giving people hope and transforming their lives because everyone is worthy of love. I do what I do to see the sparkle in people's eyes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've been an entrepreneur since 1984. I've been grateful to live an amazing life and have the flexibility and passion for doing what I love. I feel blessed to have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people. I am currently co-authoring a book with Jack Canfield, and I'm hoping the book will touch the hearts of millions of people.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge of being an entrepreneur is to withstand the test of time when your business goes down. This means paying all the bills and not retreating to fear mode. If you go into fear mode, everything will collapse. Remember, always go into business with inspiration and not with desperation. It is also especially difficult to grow your business with the lack of exceptional employees. Be with people who inspire you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have two years' worth of income that you can live off. Have a part-time job or a partner to pay the bills while you build your business. Be willing to go through very thin times. When I started my coaching business, I made $12,000 in the first year.
  2. Know that your subconscious mind can hold you back from building your business. Be aware of your conscious and subconscious mind; it can make or break your business.
  3. Give yourself time to be successful. On average, your business will take three years to be sustainable.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The only thing between you and your dreams is fear.
