What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own Cedar Counseling & Wellness, a psychotherapy practice based in Annapolis, Maryland. We provide specialized mental health services, as we have several clinicians who are uniquely trained and qualified in their areas of expertise.
Tell us about yourself
I have been interested in psychology for as long as I can remember, since my first psychology class in high school. I'm a classic INFJ (Advocate), and I love connecting with people on a deeper level. I find helping others and being a force for good in this world to be meaningful and satisfying, it truly is my dream job!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is leading with authenticity and growing a small but mighty team of competent and compassionate clinicians that are making a real difference in the community.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It can be difficult to balance my "feeling" nature with the logical, practical choices that business owners have to make on the day-to-day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do something you truly love. If you can find meaning and purpose in your work, I believe you are less likely to experience burnout.
- Surround yourself with the support you need, both professionally and personally.
- Be comfortable setting boundaries. You can not do everything and be everything to everyone at all times. You will have to make choices on how you spend your time, energy, and resources-- and it is okay to say no!
