Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stacey Pitts, Owner of CBD BioCare, located in Largo, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My husband and I own and operate CBD BioCare, an online hemp business providing mostly full-spectrum CBD products for people and pets. We serve a very broad customer base. We have children who use our products and people in their late 90s. It's not hard to find a benefit from CBD.

Tell us about yourself

My husband introduced me to CBD in 2016. I had never heard of it before, and neither had he. He was intrigued and asked me to do a deep dive. My background is in television news reporting, so he knew I would investigate it thoroughly. I went to the internet at that time, and it was difficult to find really good information. I was finding a lot of discrepancies, and it was hard to understand what CBD truly was. I watched a 3 part series titled "Weed" produced by CNN, and I was hooked. We were hooked! We could not believe there was a cannabis plant being produced that mirrored marijuana in many ways, but it was produced to have virtually no THC. That meant it was legal and caused no intoxicating side effects. We became passionate about sharing this plant with people who we believed could benefit. This opened up an amazing marketplace that began with children who suffered from seizures. Today people use our products for pain, sleep, anxiety, stress, multiple diseases that stem from inflammation, and so much more. We hear from our customers almost daily with stories of how CBD is changing or has changed their lives. That's why our tagline is, changing lives one bottle at a time because that is what it does, and that's what motivates me daily.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As business owners, I believe our greatest achievement is education. We have been able to educate and help thousands of people through the years find CBD. In many cases, it has replaced or reduced prescription medications, and that is a huge win.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Without a doubt, the hardest thing about owning and running a CBD business is the limitations when it comes to banking and even advertising because many industries still consider CBD as a banned substance.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

This is a hard question because there are so many variables. But I would say people, passion, and patience. For us, the key to our success was having the right people in place to help us grow. This includes people we hired but also people that we worked with for marketing, manufacturing, and any other services. Secondly, you must have passion. Passion will drive you, and the money will come. Finally, have patience. Don't try to shove square pegs in round holes. Some of the best deals that we ever made were ones that fell apart right before we signed on the dotted line. It was always a setup, not a setback.
