Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fine arts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Philippe Horowicz, founder and CEO of Carousel Art Group, located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We sell emotion through art. At Carousel, we focus most of our energy on finding rough diamonds all around the world to market and sell them in strategic markets. Our clients, art collectors, and art enthusiasts.

Tell us about yourself

I’ve always been an entrepreneur, and when it was time to open my own business, I wanted in some way to help my mother, who is an artist. She helped me be the man I am today, and I wanted to return the favor by making her more successful.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started the business in my bedroom with no capital. My team and I turned it into a million-dollar business in two years.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Fighting to the top and staying there.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a passion, study it, make sure there is a market for it and make a business plan.
  2. Learn to say NO more often than YES.
  3. Practice your critical/creative thinking. You’ll need it for the business to survive.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Keep both feet on the ground and be grateful for the life you have.
