What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own and operate Clockwork Collectibles; it is a toy collectible store that provides the best possible service to collectors. I have been in business for three years now, and I have been serving adult and kid collectors alike. I have been ablated to keep personal relationships with a lot of customers due to my passion for collecting, making it possible to be relatable to those who serve.

Tell us about yourself

This business started out due to my passion for collectibles. I have had an affinity for collectibles since I was a kid. I realized that there weren't enough stores that were operated by collectors for collectors, and it inspired me to open a business. When I get emails and DM's, thanking me for outstanding service, it makes me feel good and keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward. Even when things don't work out the way they should have for both parties, keeping It professional and humble has resulted in happy and returning customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think my biggest accomplishment would be that I have had an impact. Many adult collectors shy away from talking about their hobby, as most see it as "kiddish" and immature. I have been able to bring light to some of these stories, and that has made me the happiest.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things as a business owner is maintaining. From keeping active in social media to responding to emails to website maintenance, it can all be overwhelming, especially when having a full-time job and a family.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! I cannot stress that enough. Do not go in blind research the market and your competition. Number two would be letting go of attachments. When I say attachment, I mean in terms of how things will look. Owning a business can be extremely unpredictable, and you must learn to be flexible. Getting stuck on an idea, and being flexible about it, can doom your business. Lastly, relate with your customers. Don't market soles with ads and stock pictures show your face. People want to know to who they're giving their money. Talk to your customers, and post about yourself and your relationship to the service you are providing.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

If you are looking to start a business and have fears...FACE THEM! that leap of faith will be so much more rewarding than having regret.
