Tell us about yourself

My mane is Brian Lambier, and I am the Founder and President of Career Vitality Services Inc. I have over 30 years of experience in the human resources, career coaching, and retirement transition coaching fields and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Communications from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. I am a Career Development Professional and Certified Retirement Coach.

In 2006 I left a career in the corporate world and took some time off work to figure out the next chapter of my life. Six months later, I decided to move into the field of career development and secured a position working with a corporate training organization that also offered a government-funded program for youth who were experiencing barriers to employment. I left there after five years of employment and created Career Vitality Services.

We enjoy supporting people to define and leverage all of their strengths and qualities so they can create a new direction in their lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My largest accomplishment is creating Career Vitality Services 11 years ago, and our clientele trusts us to deliver services that support them to make successful transitions in their lives. We always consider it an honour to have this opportunity.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Constantly being busy and maintaining a sense of balance between work and personal life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always stay true to your vision. It is important to keep your vision in front of you and stay true to it even if things are not always going well. Eventually, the tide will turn, and your commitment to your vision will pay dividends.
  2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! We can’t be experts in every facet of our business, but we can become a sponge to learn as much about the business, including defining the areas we need help in. Then seek out the best possible people you can afford to access the support.
  3. Invest in yourself. Make time to invest in yourself and your life outside of your business. Doing so will help you find a balance that works for you, the significant people in your life, and your business. Be open to learning as much as possible to enhance your personal life. Take stock of your self-care routines and take the time away when you need to do so. Regenerate so you can come back strong and continue to add value to the business and your clientele.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Talk to strangers! Find out who they are and what they do, and just as important, share with them about yourself and your business. I have always found that people are open to speaking about what is important to them, and you never know how that fleeting conversation may result in an authentic personal or business connection.
