What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
I have seen and experienced the challenges Black women face in the workplace. I care deeply about the success of Black women, and I'm a squeaky wheel when it comes to advocating for career advancement. I decided that I deserved more than the stress of being undervalued, unfulfilled, and unmotivated. I'm a fierce champion for myself and for others, and my passion ripples out to improve the lives of those around me. You need to make brave choices possible.
I know what made the difference in my career, and I want to help guide others to the same place along a new path. I'm a witness to how much better the world is when Black women are supported to achieve their goals. I started Career Therapeutics to help other women put the pieces together. I aim to activate others and help them find their voice and a clear path forward. I help them recognize the power in their struggle for success.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping my client to negotiate her salary that doubled her previous income!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Balance with work and life and the many life challenges that pop up. It's more about rolling with the punches and seeing that everything is a season.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be flexible. Your business will change in so many ways, and it's not necessarily a good thing.
- Grow fast and steady. It's easy to get distracted thinking that you have to make millions from day one. Grow your business at your pace.
- Work smarter, not harder. Use a community and help each other out.
