Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Czarnik, CEO of Career Research Group, located in Appleton, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a training organization that teaches companies better ways to recruit, retain and develop talented employees.

Tell us about yourself

I had spent the last 17 years teaching job Seekers how to figure out where they belonged in the world of work. That gave me a very good feel for how to teach companies how to find great employees. What motivates me is when I help companies find great people, I'm also helping job Seekers find where they belong.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My process has been identified as a national model by the United States Congress. I have also successfully presented these ideas in front of more than 2,000 CEOs across the country.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner for me was teaching people that they're actually different ways both of doing job searches and recruiting employees. While your company and your ideas are struggling to gain traction, you have to be absolutely sure that you are correct and that you have a better way so that you don't give up during the tough times.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, make sure that you find a mentor or a model or both to give you honest feedback. Second, work initially to get great recommendations you can use to drive your business. Third, find one industry or area or business type that you have a little bit of success with and stay in that industry or area instead of trying to conquer the whole world at once.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't give up easily. So many entrepreneurs give up right before they're about to be successful. And, of course, referrals from Happy customers to new customers are the core of any sales effort.
