What's your business, and who are your customers?

Career Pro Resume Center, Inc. offers writing of resumes, cover letters, and Linkedin Profiles. My customers are job seekers from 28-70 who are experiencing some form of transition.

Tell us about yourself

After 25 years as a public relations specialist working with arts and human service organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, and professionals, I enjoy helping people go from confusion to a conclusion during a career transition. Many people are very talented in their own field however can not promote themselves. I am in people marketing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I moved the business from an old-school two-room office in Center City Philadelphia to my home in suburban Philadelphia and successfully continue to provide personalized service without customers filling out a questionnaire, as most resume writers continue to choose to do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It is essential to follow the economy and its changes. I went through a Recession, 9/11, a Financial Crisis, Dot Com bubble, and now the multiple impacts of COVID. I'm proud to say I'm still in business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I bought a business. It is the oldest resume writing service in business. The former owner who trained me had a great reputation. During the first ten years, I worked with many former clients who have referred me to many other clients. Word of mouth is strong. Keep on top of the business... don't let the business run you.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Thanks to the internet, I have low overhead and can work virtually with other resume writers. However, if someone is in the Philadelphia region, I am quite willing to meet face to face. There are many resume writers that choose not to meet their clients.
