What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hi! I am the influencer behind Cara Jourdan ~ I have been working as a full-time blogger for a decade. I have created my own presets @CaraJourdanPresets and Hair Styling Iron @CaraJourdanxo and share my life, travels, and fashion on my profile.
Tell us about yourself
I was working as a fashion buyer when I decided I wanted to try out blogging (this was before Instagram, if you can believe it!) I started by just taking photos of myself and posting them to my website, and slowly began to grow a following. When Instagram was introduced, that was a game-changer, and I was able to quit my job and pursue blogging full time. Since then, I have traveled the globe working with major hotels & brands (Chanel, Four Seasons, Revolve, L'Oreal, to name a few) and have attended amazing events, including Fashion Week, Couture Fashion Week, Victoria's Runway Show, Cannes Film Festival and Coachella. I was able to create products, including my Presets and my Styling Iron and have collaborated with brands including Brunette The Label, Melanie Auld Jewelry, and True Curated Designs to create my own collections. I am constantly being inspired to do more, grow my business, and find the motivation to dream about what will come! I never thought I would be where I am now when I was going to University, so all it takes is hard work and dedication to make dreams a reality.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating my own brands and being my own boss!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Work is 24/7 - No one will do the work for you; you have to do it yourself! You also get a ton of no's before getting a yes - but it is all worth it!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be prepared to put all your time and effort in...and prepare your loved ones!
- Only do what you love because it takes work and time, so make sure it is something you are passionate about
- Get an accountant and make sure to manage your incoming & outgoing expenses so you can have a real idea of what you are earning.
