What's your business, and who are your customers?
We help Canadian families maximize their retirement income by the age of 55 by assuming control of their pensions.
Tell us about yourself
I started as an Investment Advisor in 2013 with BMO Nesbitt Burns. In 2017 we joined WorldSource Securities, and it has been the best decision for our clients and us. We can truly help our clients achieve their goals and retire happy. Seeing the positive effect on our clients and their financial futures is what keeps me coming to work every day. We have lots of work to do and more people to help.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment so far has been building an amazing team to do what we do. We are growing quickly, which is a direct result of our talent, hard work, and commitment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I would say the hardest part of being a business owner is capacity. Having to manage many roles within the business creates scale issues as well as burnout, especially in the beginning.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
This is a great one. I wish I could have talked to myself when I was first starting out.
- Do your market research. Know as much about your market as possible, then test your concept.
- Know who your customers are down to every little detail.
- Use technology to help outsource any roles or tasks you can. Speak to your clients and get your message out, so they know how and where to buy from you.
