What's your business, and who are your customers?
Medical Spa in Bloor West Village. California Sun Spa celebrates over 27 years. We specialize in Facials, Tightening Treatments like Titan and Exilis. We treat rosacea, brown spots, and veins with IPL treatment. We offer fat-burning Exilis, EM Slimming, and Endermologie for cellulite. We treat scars, and we stimulate collagen with Dermaroller - Micro-Needling treatment.
We offer microblading for eyebrows and permanent makeup for the eyes and lips, eyelash extensions and eyelash lift treatment, and the new generation Oxygeneo Treatment. We specialize in European Facials using the top Guinot, Yonka, GM Collin, and GMC Medical products. We offer chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments, and we also offer free skin consultations.

Tell us about yourself
I have always loved beauty. Since I was a little girl, I have always cared about my skin, hair, and nails. I have a passion for the beauty business, and I love to work with clients and make them look younger.
I finished esthetic school in Poland. When I came to Canada in 1989, I worked for a few years in the best spa in Toronto, Mira Linder. It was a very good experience for me. Since that, I have always wanted to open my own beauty spa. In 1997 I opened California Sun Spa in Bloor West Village. We have had the same location for 27 years now.
It has been a great journey for me. I worked with the best estheticians, and I met a lot of wonderful people. After so many years, I still have a passion for my job. I come to the spa every day very excited and always searching for good treatments and technologies. We constantly take courses and seminars. It is a great journey for me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The biggest accomplishment is the good, steady business. I feel at home when I come to work. I'm surrounded by the most beautiful people who show a lot of support and love. I'm very thankful for that. I feel blessed to have the most wonderful clients who have supported us every day for so many years. The biggest accomplishment for me is my relationship with my staff and my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing as a business owner is working long hours and finding the right team members to work at the business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Work hard.
- Surround yourself with the best staff, educate yourself, and be an expert in your field.
- Make sure your clients are happy. Focus on your clients 100%.
