What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a pastry chef & cake artist. My customers are people who have a vision and want someone to bring it to life! Or are you just looking for some delicious, fresh treats😃

Tell us about yourself

I started my career at a fine dining restaurant which is where I really got a lot of experience with flavours. From there, I moved on to a bakery, where I learned cake decorating. That was where I was inspired to start my own business and bring great flavours together with beautifully decorated cakes. My biggest motivation is giving customers something even better than they expected.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the growth my business has made in the last two years. I look forward to growing and still providing delicious cakes/treats.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with owning a business is maintaining a healthy work/life balance. It’s so easy to become totally consumed by your business, but a healthy balance is vital.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don’t expect your sales to blow up overnight. It takes time.
  2. Make sure you really love what you’re doing because it is A LOT of work.
  3. Try to offer a product/service that’s a little unique.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I absolutely love what I do for a living, and I will continue to provide products I’m proud of. My motto for my business is if I wouldn’t want to eat it myself, it will not be served to a customer. Quality always comes first at Cake it up a notch.
