What's your business, and who are your customers?
Buttrmlk is grounded in the idea that less is more. Our handmade, all-natural formulas highlight the wonders of shea butter that we ethically source from Ghana. The ultimate buttr lover is someone who loves deep moisturizers, clean beauty, and luxurious formulas without the luxurious price tag.
Tell us about yourself
Buttrmlk was founded in 2021 and has surpassed all my expectations, and we approach our one-year mark. Surprisingly the product I was most nervous about (lip fix) ended up being our bestseller. In that victory was a lesson, trust that what you're doing is working. It's harder said than done, but every day I make it a point to acknowledge my trust in myself, and then the work will follow.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment with Buttrmlk is seeing the community that's been built around it. Having people be in love with the products because they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do is so gratifying to witness. Overall the support is so meaningful to me. I am excited to watch this community grow with Buttrmlk.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a small team, the main challenge I face is managing multiple areas of the business and trying to give attention to them all at once. Things easily get neglected or forgotten about in this method, so I found the best way to deal with it is to designate time for each area. If it's a product day... it's a product day, it becomes way easier to complete tasks, and it's nice to stay in the flow of one thing at a time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find your niche in the area you're trying to pursue.
- Stick to what's working.
- Stay true to yourself, your brand, and your customers.
