Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in content creation but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Matt McKinley, Host of Burnin’ Daylight Podcast, located in Smith, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I host a podcast for the working cowboy!

Tell us about yourself

I recorded my first episode of Burnin’ Daylight with my phone and earbuds while checking cattle on horseback. I love cowboying, working with cows and horses, and telling tall tales with other cow hands. The fact that there are working hands out there that get some value from me spouting nonsense that keeps me putting out new content!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been connecting independent cowboy artists, musicians, tack makers, and bit and spur makers with a wider customer base, culminating in a series of live performances during the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Figuring out how to keep as much of my earnings as possible without going to jail!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work hard.
  2. Work harder.
  3. Get lucky.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Come give me a listen if you want to hear real cowboys talk about real cowboy life…with a bunch of dirty jokes thrown in the mix!

Where can people find you and your business?
