What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is the Burlington Hypnosis centre. Our customers want to lose weight, stop smoking, get help with stress management, or are stuck in their life in some way and need change.

Tell us about yourself

Interesting story, Lol. I worked part-time as a yoga instructor and full-time in marketing, and I reached out to the owner at the time of the Burlington Hypnosis Centre to market her business, and she became a client. After reviewing her services, I thought it would be really cool to incorporate hypnosis into teaching yoga. So I started to train as a hypnotist under Robbie Spier Miller. Then I started working for her part-time as a hypnotist, then bought the business from her as she switched her full-time focus to training people to be hypnotists. My passion is people; I genuinely LOVE people and helping them to get to their goals, outcomes, and dreams, whatever they may be. I love seeing the change in people and really love my work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say the results that clients receive coming to the Burlington Hypnosis centre. Like people who have struggled for years to lose weight and do it with hypnosis or people trying to quit smoking and have smoked a pack a day for 20 or 30 years and they quit with hypnosis or getting over other habits. We have tons of testimonials, online reviews, and thank you notes from clients past and present. Our client's accomplishments are our accomplishments. :)

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sometimes there are long days and long hours, but it is worth it!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Making mistakes is mandatory to learn as a business owner. Move through the emotion of mistakes fast so you can move to the good stuff. You will make more mistakes, but it helps with the success. There is no such thing as failure; there is only feedback.
  2. Know your worth and value your time. Giving away an hour a day can add up. As a business owner, you are busy, and any extra time you need to do things for you.
  3. Make as many connections as you can; you never know what new opportunities are around the corner or where they will come from.
