Tell us about yourself

My culinary career began while supporting myself through college, working in the restaurant industry. After graduating, I began working in the corporate sector but always maintained my passion for innovative cuisine. Getting a solid foundation under famous chefs like Daniel Boulud and David Burke, I enrolled in the Institute of Culinary Education. Shortly after, I was offered the coveted role as Sous Chef at Google in NYC before forming Brooklyn Braised in 2017.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Forbes has honored me as part of the Next1000, Serena Williams & Bumble as a Woman of Courage, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams as a COVID-19 Hero.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing work/life balance.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Finding an accounting should be your first step!
  2. Be invested in learning--because it never stops.
  3. Find local resources to help you grow in your state-- from small business clinics at local universities to community-based programs.
