What's your business, and who are your customers?
British Swim School teaches water survival and safety to children and adults. We start at three months and focus on back float water survival skills.
Tell us about yourself
I first started this business in 2013 after a 20-year career in sales with IBM. It is rewarding to know that we are helping to keep children safe in the water since drowning is still the leading cause of death for children under 5.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We built our Pittsburgh franchise to be a successful, thriving business and purchased a second franchise in Chicago.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having the flexibility to be able to set my own schedule and not be dependent on anyone else for employment. Also, being able to provide a good wage and allowing other employees to share in the success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Make your plan, stick to it or alter it when needed, and stay determined.
