Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kimber Leavitt, owner of Frida Beauty Bar, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They have locations in Marda Loop and Victoria Park.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Frida Beauty Bar is a medical spa that specializes in Botox and fillers. We also provide medical facials and hair services in our Marda Loop location. We are customer-obsessed, and no matter what, "we work for you." You, as the client, are our number one priority.

Tell us about yourself

I opened a medical spa because I noticed a gap in the market for injectables done in a trendy and welcoming space. I have always loved creating and wanted to create the most beautiful and unique space in all of Calgary.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My team. I feel like that is one superpower I have - finding the best, most engaged, most self-motivated, most customer-oriented team on the planet. They are what makes Frida, and I couldn't be more proud.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Juggling. I feel like I can't turn my brain off because I'm juggling so many things and wearing so many hats.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be humble and teachable and ask for advice from everyone. Be kind to yourself because nothing will ever be perfect. Gratitude is the key to happiness. Make sure to be grateful for every step, every human, every lesson that got you where you are - especially on days when you want to throw in the towel.
