Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ashly Bright, Founder of Bright Health Coaching, located in Ormond Beach, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bright Health Coaching is a wellness practice that serves people who are looking to live a low-tox lifestyle. The overall health of Americans is declining, the products we use are negatively affecting our bodies, and I teach others how to improve their health without them.

Tell us about yourself

I started in the health and wellness industry in 2017. I wasn't sure where my path would lead me, and initially, it wasn't in coaching. After doing a significant amount of research on the body, health, and a cleaner lifestyle, I knew that I wanted to help others. Coaching friends and offering advice to family members lit me up. It was exciting to see those people have "aha" moments and implement my suggestions. Today, I am still motivated by those moments. My client base has grown, and at the close of every session or class, I am taken aback by teaching someone something new and seeing their excitement.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment was making the decision to turn my side hustle into a lucrative business. I had been in corporate for 14 years, and stepping off the hamster wheel gave me relief and satisfaction.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Imposter syndrome! Some days I wake up and pinch myself. Creating a life you love is hard work, and even though I have come so far, I have to remind myself that it was really me who has done the work.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Spend more time, in the beginning, putting pen to paper. Imagine, feel, and smell every inch of what your business is going to be.
  2. Put time on your calendar each month to evaluate your finances. In the beginning, it is easy to get to tax time and panic because you haven't kept up on your expenses.
  3. Trust yourself! Follow your heart and your dreams. Do not let yourself get in the way of what you can bring to the table.
