Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Laurens Tijssen, Founder of Breathpage, located in Pelt, Belgium.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company Breathpage helps entrepreneurs and companies with website services. We've helped companies from industries like real estate, car dealerships, consultants, and more. For the last time, we've been able to establish ourselves more in helping out online creators with an all-in-one website solution. While websites are the core of our business, we also help out with digital advertising, consulting, and digital services.

Tell us about yourself

I went to school for the majority of my life without knowing what it was I wanted to do. Eventually, I went to college, where I chose to study computer science because of my natural interest and because I knew it would give me skills I could utilize besides my job. When being in college, I quickly learned that I didn't like the actual work behind computer science, and I began to have more interest in having my business. I knew eventually that I would need to have my own business to break out of the normal life of society. While being a student, I leveraged my situation to start a company in Belgium with a lot of tax benefits.

After starting my business, I quickly found a lot of passion in building daily on my own things, helping people, getting ahead in life, and coming close to the lifestyle I wanted. I decided to drop out of college at the end of January 2022 with the goal of becoming a full-time entrepreneur by the end of 2022. After one month, I achieved my goal, and until now, I'm still doing online business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments in my journey of business is to be able to connect with 7 figure entrepreneurs, work on major projects, and be able to travel in Europe while maintaining my online business and also to be able to build a team that supports me and even helping others with my course and coaching to start their own business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

In my experience, the hardest thing is to find clarity within your goals, be able to stay determined in your journey, and allow the circle of results, motivation, and action to support each other. Besides the mental part, it comes down to having clients and finding people who you can genuinely help create connections that you can provide for.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always work on yourself. Self-improvement is the foundation of everything you do.
  2. Pay for mentorship and networking.
  3. Focus on business, be genuine, and put in the work.
