Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jeremy Schifeling, Founder of Break into Tech, located in Mountain View, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help non-techies break into awesome tech careers - without learning to code.

Tell us about yourself

As a former kindergarten teacher who landed jobs at Apple, LinkedIn, and Google, I realized that you don't need to be a coder to break into tech. So now I love helping others make the same journey!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

So far, I've helped over 50,000 people explore new careers - from students just starting their journeys to mid-career professionals looking to make a pivot.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Recognizing that building a business in a new vertical takes years, not weeks. But while it can be easier to just launch something in an established space, starting something truly brand-new can be even more meaningful!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Understand your customers inside and out - and ideally, be your own first customer!
  2. Don't be afraid to try new things and fail. Analysis paralysis can be helpful within a large organization - where taking risks can be dangerous - but it's the kiss of death for a small, scrappy organization.
  3. Just go for it today. If you imagine yourself at the end of your life, can you imagine having regrets that you tried something and failed? No way. The only conceivable regret is that you never tried at all.
