What's your business, and who are your customers?
Bravura is a coterie with the mission of propelling women-led companies and helping them make their mark on the beauty and wellness industry. We leverage our expertise and success in brand equity building to support founders and leaders of early to mid-stage businesses. We work with brands to navigate the world of retail partnerships and distribution, whether they are just starting out or looking to expand, develop or refine their brand positioning and identify growth opportunities.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I started my career in beauty at The Estee Lauder Companies and held leadership positions at Oribe Hair Care and Kao USA, launching new brands, opening new channels, and gaining top market share.
Building brands and teams have always been my passion, and I love seeing female founders succeed - it is incredibly fulfilling. I decided to launch my business that would combine all of these aspects. I began Bravura in 2021 in order to work with multiple female founders and support them throughout their journey.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There are big and small wins. It is always exciting to launch a brand with a new retail partner, such as launching AAVRANI in Anthropologie. I equally love the smaller wins of working with an executive on her day-to-day pain points and finding ways to mitigate them, giving her more capacity to focus on her bigger picture.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You tend to wear every single hat within your organization, regardless of your skill level in that area. Knowing how to manage your time and when to bring in help is critical. I am a fanatic about my calendar. My time is my most important asset, so I am consistently reprioritizing what needs to get done and making sure I block off the appropriate amount of time. It is also nice to glance back at what you have accomplished in a week or month - celebrate the small wins!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get very clear on who you intend to serve with your offering. What is your why?
- Know your strengths and opportunities. Bring in assistance to complement your opportunities once the business can support them.
- Know that your role will continue to evolve as the business and team grow.
