What's your business, and who are your customers?
Box Of Care Gift Company creates custom gifts that showcase large and small businesses in New Orleans that can be given for any occasion. Our customers are events that want some New Orleans flair, companies, and anyone who wants to give New Orleans love to someone else.
Tell us about yourself
The business was started in 2017 and took off in late 2020 during the pandemic when no one could travel. It started after seeing a care package company in another city making local gifts and inspired what became Box Of Care by adding a twist. The daily motivation comes in carrying out the mission of showing some of the creative small businesses in New Orleans and bridging the gap between New Orleans and those who love it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2022, Box Of Care provided gifts to attendees of the Men's Final Four Basketball Tournament in New Orleans.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time management is a big hurdle for a solopreneur. It's hard to be out selling the business and taking care of operational things as well. I try to schedule time as much as I can to remain balanced.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be resilient. Don't get too high or too low during situations.
- Always look to help others. The satisfaction of helping others will ultimately help you succeed.
- Have a great support system (family, friends, other business owners, etc.). Knowing that you can lean on others will help on those hard days.
