Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gaby Fioravanti, Owner of BOX N'MVE Miami, located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hi, my name is Gaby, I own a fitness studio in the heart of North Miami Beach. I have a great mix of clients, from busy moms to high executive professionals to young adults looking for a safe place to come, connect and feel strong!

Tell us about yourself

I've been in fitness for many years. I grew up as an athlete playing multiple sports. So as I got older, I had different careers, from hospitality to corporate America, but I never felt fulfilled. I knew my purpose was bigger, that it involved helping people to feel more empowered to feel stronger. I got back into fitness during a period in my life where I needed to feel whole again, to feel strong. I started getting back into boxing, and that is when I knew that I wanted to change not only my life but others.

I started teaching boxing group fitness classes, and the results people had when we connected are what impacted me and led to my dream of opening up my own studio. I knew that was my true purpose, to help individuals feel stronger, feel empowered, and feel like they can conquer anything life throws at them. Recognizing my true passion and pursuing my dream to open up this special place to help others is my everyday motivation to keep it going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening up a studio during a pandemic was definitely a high-risk decision. It hasn't been the easiest, but we are about to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, and I am so excited to continue building this space and community.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would have to say one of the hardest things as a business owner is being patient. Patience is something that is tested on a daily. There is constant industry pressure that brews with anxiety, stress, and competing with the bigger gym facilities along with your own individual life stressors will always be a battle. But if you stay patient, take a deep breath, and know that you're living your true purpose, all those rough moments will pass. Clarity comes shining thru to give you the answers to surpass it all.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient with yourself. Great things take time.
  2. Have a strong support system.
  3. Ask for help.
