Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lesya Liu, CEO of Boundless Agency, located in Denver, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Boundless Agency is the result of years of digital marketing experience combined with innovative frameworks and a passion for mission-driven businesses in the health and wellness industry.
Tell us about yourself
After years of digital marketing experience both in-house and on an agency side, a few things became clear to me: In-house marketing teams often lack the edge that specialized advertising experts bring, And yet, agencies tend to take on more clients than they can properly manage, so they lack the focus and the bandwidth to truly understand the business, its audience, and its competitive landscape to be the most effective. Finally, it is my belief that each one of us has unique gifts that can benefit our communities and even the world. It is my belief that we don't have to settle for anything less than satisfaction and pride in our work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, I take great pride in being able to create employment opportunities for people and watching them grow professionally and personally. One of my biggest accomplishments has been building a team of talented individuals who are passionate about their work and committed to the success of the business.
When I started my business, my goal was not just to create a profitable venture but to make a positive impact on the lives of the people who work for me. I believe that every employee has the potential to achieve great things, and I make it a priority to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.
Over the years, I have seen many of my employees start out in entry-level positions and work their way up to management roles. It is incredibly rewarding to watch them grow and develop their skills, and I take pride in knowing that I played a part in their success.
Ultimately, my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is not just the success of the business but the success of the people who work for me. By creating a positive and supportive work environment, I have been able to help my employees achieve their goals and reach their full potential, and that is something that I am truly proud of.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is the constant pressure and responsibility that comes with running a business. As the owner, you are responsible for making all the major decisions that can impact the success or failure of the business. This can be a daunting task, as you must constantly balance the needs of the business with the needs of your customers, employees, and stakeholders.
In addition to the pressure of decision-making, there are also many other challenges that business owners face, such as managing cash flow, dealing with legal and regulatory compliance, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and changes. Business owners must also be able to adapt to changes in the market, such as new technologies or shifting consumer preferences, and be able to pivot their strategies accordingly.
Another challenge that business owners face is the need to wear many different hats. In the early stages of a business, the owner may need to handle everything from marketing and sales to finance and operations. This can be a difficult juggling act, and it requires a great deal of time, energy, and expertise.
Overall, being a business owner can be a challenging and demanding role, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. It requires a strong work ethic, a willingness to take risks, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
