What's your business, and who are your customers?

Oat Shop is a unique cafe with the mission of providing unique, nutritious meals to the community. Our core product is oatmeal bowls, with inventive sweet and savoury combinations. If you think of oatmeal as a boring breakfast food, prepare to have your mind blown!

Tell us about yourself

My professional background is in finance. While working a desk job, I could see the need to heartier meals options that would keep you nourished and feeling good all day. Oats were an essential part of my diet and I wanted others to experience them in their best light.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that I was able to create jobs that pay well above minimum wage and that our staff members get exposure to the financial side of the business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The business never stops! We wear many different hats and there are always ongoing challenges to work through.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Seek out people who have done it before. Focus on building a great team. Develop a growth mindset and always strive to get better.
