Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Joe Mcgowen, Owner of Booze Dogs, located in Greenville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a US-based e-commerce business that promotes companionship, provides the "Good Life" to Food Explorers, and serves boozy meat bourbon, gin, rum-infused burgers, brats, hot dogs, jerky, and snack sticks.

Tell us about yourself

The idea came from a silly conversation with a friend. It tells the true rescue story of my grandfather, an immigrant who became a successful entrepreneur and appreciated friendship, food, and booze. I am motivated to provide social food so others can connect and enjoy companionship through friends, both human and furry & four-legged!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being small and surviving the pandemic and rising inflation, super challenging to scale to offset costs.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a small business owner is wearing multiple hats while focused on growth activities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do your homework and flesh out the full idea; however, don't be afraid to "go" and learn on the way. At some point, you have to move forward and get comfortable with failure.
