Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Teresa Caufield, owner, and operator of Perfect Circle Management, from BC, Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

Bookkeeping, personal tax, admin services. Business owners and everyday people.

What's your background and motivation to grow as an entrepreneur?

I love taxes. In my early 20s, I was surprised with a tax bill I wasn't prepared for and didn't want this to happen to others. I got my accounting degree to help educate people. I don't want other people to be surprised like I was.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I built and maintained my business without going into any debt.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

Turning it off at the end of the day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure there is demand for what you want to offer.
  2. Figure out how to differentiate yourself from others doing what you do.
  3. Talk to a bookkeeper or accountant before you start. Don't get down the road and realize you should have been charging GST, talking source deductions, etc. Don't be surprised, be proactive.
