What's your business, and who are your customers?
Bonita Clothing and Co is a small business that curates unique feminine apparel for women.
Tell us about yourself
I started this business in the pandemic 2021 while I was in school. I felt hopeless being so young and feeling like I was unaccomplished while doing online school. During that time, I was scrolling through TikTok, where I noticed a girl similar in age to me who was posting about her small boutique business. I fell in love with her brand and page and started following her journey. I then thought I could probably do this in Canada, so I researched and honestly couldn't stop researching until I started convincing my loved ones that I could do it too. So I came up with the name - named after my late aunt, Bonnie (Bonita), who also had a love for fashion. I am motivated by our customers and other small businesses. There is always something to do as a business owner, so there is never a dull moment.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating this brand, honestly. It is so special that I am able to remember my aunt Bonnie with this brand. And it seems like others are enjoying the pieces we select, which also is quite motivating.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a jack of all trades - account manager, inventory shopper, steamer - you name it, I do it. I feel like I am always faced with a new challenge that I need to learn how to do or get over the hurdle every day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
