Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cindy Juncaj, CEO and Founding Partner of bon COOK, located in Birmingham, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bon COOK was established to help people cook well at home without making huge sacrifices in time spent cooking or in the taste of the meals created. Our customers are those looking for meal prep solutions, cooking tools, and recipes. Much to the delight that they can book their very own cooking class online or in person and learn everything they need to know to make the best meal on the block in one hour or less.

Tell us about yourself

I started this business because I recognized the huge need people had for a good cooking and tasting experience at home. Offering people the bon Cook business to work from home is where the inspiration in the channel begins. We’ve all heard the saying everyone eats although the trending change is everyone wants to eat well and needs simplistic ways to make that happen.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the people I have had the pleasure to empower through the bon COOK business, whether a consultant selling our products through cooking classes or a family getting quick meals on the table. Seeing others accomplish something they didn’t think possible is what motivates me.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

To understand and act on the fact that failures and challenges are the largest steps to overall growth personally and professionally.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Building a company in today’s world means you need to trust others to allow every team member to flourish in an autonomous environment.
  2. Stop giving team members all of the answers and start asking them how they think it should be done. Then ask the golden question, why? The answers are profound and well thought out. More often than not, these ideas turned into action to excel the overall growth.
  3. Step back and allow your team to shine! This is the most powerful point in leadership. It’s not about you, the leader, it is about creating the playground of success for others, and once this is established, everyone crosses the finish line of success.
