Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristen Kramer, owner of Bold Moves Boss, located in Raytown, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm passionate about igniting that spark inside you. Helping you to light up the world with your talent and experience. As a business consultant-coach, I work with business owners who are overwhelmed and frustrated trying to figure out their systems, processes, and tech stack. My 360 approach gives you the bold moves YOU can take to boss up your profits, crush overwhelm, and love your business again!

Tell us about yourself

After losing my job twice in the same year due to cutbacks, I was burnt out and frustrated. I knew I needed to make a change, and from that, my business was born. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you're painted into a corner. Helping others tap into the spirit behind Bold Moves Boss is about stepping into your personal power. Being the boss of you. Being the boss of your business. Owning the CEO hat, being the boss of your future, and the experience you want to have in life now. And being the boss of where you’re headed instead of feeling like you’re at the mercy of everything and everyone around you.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am taking all of the experience I’ve gained over the years in scaling my own business several times over, becoming very familiar with the infrastructure and creating systems and procedures, and my tech-savvy expertise, and folding that into Bold Moves Boss. I want to take all of those years of experience and help other entrepreneurs avoid the pitfalls that I went through when scaling my business, building a team, growing a successful business, and evolving into the next version to continue growing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning to let go of being in control. When I started my business, I kept telling myself the myth and the story, “Surely, this will level out eventually, and it won’t feel like I’m constantly in a hurricane being whipped around.” It took me three years to realize that’s a lie we tell ourselves. In fact, I've learned that if it ever calms down like that, something is seriously wrong; I just haven’t figured it out yet. As in - "I’m probably going out of business and just don’t know it yet." It’s never going to level out. It’s always going to be chaos. It’s functional chaos when you reach a certain point, but it’s always chaos. I think that was the hardest lesson to learn.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stop taking advice from everyone around you. Follow what sets your soul on fire and you'll never regret it.
  2. Being an entrepreneur takes dedication and perseverance. There's no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, no magic potion to make millions of dollars - so you better learn to love the grind.
  3. Get a coach (even if you're a coach). You need someone looking in on the outside to give you perspective and understand how to push you to the next level.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Get past the fear of success. When you start out, you may feel overwhelmed. You may fall victim to believing that if you're already overwhelmed with the clients you have, there's no way you can take on more. When those feelings bubble up to the surface, a solid strategy and a roadmap will help you bridge the gap between where you are today and where you want to be "tomorrow" by giving you actionable strategies that work for you.
