Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Heather Oxman, Owner of Bold Change Coaching, located in Lethbridge, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I coach people to recognize patterns. I ask questions to help them find better ways to their next wise step.

My clients include individuals from all walks of life, plus corporate, government, and non-profit teams.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a facilitator of small and large groups of people in various areas of my career for many years as a nature interpreter, a volunteer manager, a service excellence trainer, and a public outreach educator. In all cases, coaching people was fundamentally about finding good patterns and charting their simple rules to success.

Now I enjoy serving people by building relationships around the context of possibility: what is possible if we work together? What do you want in your life? Why don't you have it now? Could we create a plan together to make it possible for you to make possible you?

Challenges like this excite and motivate me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting and sustaining my business in a new location - Lethbridge. I was originally located in Ottawa.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Building a network of effective connections.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a coach to help you grow your business.
  2. Join the Chamber of Commerce.
  3. Read extensively the business books that are in your field and outside your area of expertise to broaden your scope of vision.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Be bold, and don't be afraid to change. "Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement."
– Golda Meir
