Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kandra Cassar, Founder of Bohemian Bliss Yoga, located in Whitby, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bohemian Bliss Yoga is a community organization supporting you along your health, wellness, and fitness journey through yoga movement, outdoor living, and a natural lifestyle. Throughout the year, we hold weekly classes, programs, series, workshops, events, and retreats to help you grow mentally, physically, and spiritually by finding your inner self-awareness and connecting your mind, body, and spirit.

Tell us about yourself

I have a passion for helping others. Along my journey, I realized just how much yoga could do for you in mind, body, and spirit. I felt a strong pull to share that with the world to help others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Customer satisfaction. Watching the community and my team grow. Surviving and thriving during COVID. Being able to take my first vacation and trusting my team to handle everything.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Surprisingly it wasn't all the lockdowns. Last year I went through something where I felt I was deprived of happiness and rest. I just had too much on my plate and never gave myself a day off - for what felt like months. Don't get me wrong; I love what I do. Every day I wake up loving what I do. Being your own boss brings on its own set of challenges. Giving yourself time to breathe, grow, and be free is very important. I hadn't had a vacation in years; the business wasn't ready for that. I, for the first time, had the thought of quitting and feeling it wasn't worth it. Then - of course, the Universe steps in to guide you down the right path. I decided to take a course (which was even more on my plate), but it allowed me to set the business up to step away from the business. Hire others, and get some help. I'm grateful for that sign from the Universe!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Slow down in order to move forward. Never give up. Return to your why. It's all part of the process. Remind yourself anything is possible. Check-in with your perspective and your mission. To believe. To just take a second and believe anything is possible. Be open to change. And change as frequently as possible. Trust. Ask others for help. Rely on others. Work on positive thoughts. Success is not the key to happiness; happiness is the key to success. Self-discipline. Follow intuition. The answer is easy. It lies within your thoughts. One task is not harder than another. All are equal.
