What's your business, and who are your customers?
Body Butter Blends is a natural skincare company that specializes in healing dry skin using raw, natural ingredients. Our target audience is those who suffer from mild to chronic dry skin. We cater to those who have tried over-the-counter skincare products with little to no results and want to begin utilizing natural ingredients to heal their skin.
Tell us about yourself
Body Butter Blends was formed out of a need to heal my son's mild eczema naturally. After many failed attempts, I was able to create a cream that soothed, moisturized, and reduced his flare-ups. With the additional products on hand, I began experimenting with fragrances and gave body butter away as gifts to friends and family. The positive responses I received back inspired me to create Body Butter Blends.
Nothing motivates me more than to receive testimony from someone who purchased our products and begin seeing a transformation in the look and feel of their skin. I am truly inspired by my customers. My passion for assisting people in loving the skin keeps me going through the challenges of being a business owner.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment to date was still being operable during the pandemic. As we all know, small businesses took a pretty hard hit during the pandemic. Availability of materials, customers who were hesitant to make purchases, and the rising cost of doing business were some of the factors in a lot of small businesses closing permanently.
We were blessed to have dedicated clients who stayed with us during these challenging times and were patient as we worked through challenges as they arose.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is finding a work-life balance. Business owners work long hours, take less time for themselves, and when they do take time off, they have a sense of guilt. Finding the sweet spot has been such a challenge for me. I have a great support system, my family, that keeps me grounded and remind me to take care of ME!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research the need - you want to make sure there is a market need for your services and/or products.
- Be patient - very few people grow their business overnight. We are at a time when everyone promotes some sort of overnight success on social media. Don't compare your timing with anyone else's.
- Be resilient - don't give up during the hard times (because they will come). Times of low to no sales will make you doubt yourself and your goals. Don't give in to those thoughts of negativity. Stay positive, revamp your approach and keep your mindset free of outside noise. Find an accountability partner that can lift you up and remind you of your purpose.

We are blessed to be able to share my gifts with the world. Body Butter Blends will affect the world positively. We are always reminded that we are blessed to be a blessing to others.
