What's your business, and who are your customers?
Body Ache Escape Massage Center is a therapeutic massage wellness company. We focus on pain relief and improving function for better movement in daily activity. Our customers come from 30 miles within Pickerington, Ohio, and range from 20-80 years old. Most of our clients are between 40-70, equally dispersed between genders.
Tell us about yourself
I became a massage therapist in 2002 and have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Once I realized I was maxed out as a solopreneur, I was ready for more. In 2010 the universe lined up just right for Kyron Moses and me to open Body Ache Escape. I love giving other massage therapists a healthy place to work and enjoy helping people feel better.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is creating a business that runs without me there. I have allowed myself to retire mostly from the massage room, and I work on marketing and growing the business outside of the office.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is learning to work with so many personality styles and how to communicate with each.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get a great coach who specializes in emotional intelligence.
- Get your processes and procedures down so that anyone can pick up a manual and know how things should be done.
- Train your team right, and then let them do their job.
