What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bloom Bookkeeping is an independent group of financial consultants that offer holistic bookkeeping services to businesses on Vancouver I s land and across Canada. The company prides itself on being an approachable and reliable resource for all things bookkeeping — providing well-rounded and custom bookkeeping services, simple, streamlined solutions, and financial advice that is honest and digestible to those at every stage of their financial journey. Our customers are business owners and entrepreneurs that are forward-thinking, ethical, and community-driven.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I'm Caitlin! I have completed education in design, business administration, and finance. I worked in the fashion industry with global brands before relocating to my hometown on Vancouver Island. I started Bloom Bookkeeping to create a better work/life balance for myself and provide simple, holistic, and low-stress financial services to business owners.

I am motivated to do my work based on the belief that your finances are a part of your health. I take the approach of zero shame or guilt over where you are now financially and work with clients from that place to help achieve their goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is creating a business that is based on building relationships that are long-term, sustainable, and honest.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the biggest things that come for me as a business owner is maintaining a work/life balance. When a lot of us shifted to working at home during the pandemic, I felt like this created the habit of shifting into work mode from home a lot more often. I counterbalance this by scheduling time off and away every three months. This way, I can return to my work with greater clarity and drive.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Love what you do (cliché, but for a reason).
  2. Start your bookkeeping from day one and keep all of your personal transactions separate from your business ones. Creating this habit will lead to more financial clarity as your business grows.
  3. Be ok with delegating, creating space for help, and not doing it all on your own!
