Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Courtney Esther, Founder of Blissful Beginnings, located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a health coach, a doula, and a yoga teacher. My customers are women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, or have young children at home.

Tell us about yourself

After many years of working with children and families in early childhood education with health & wellness as my passions outside of work, I finally decided to blend my passion for holistic health with my love of young children and families. As a mother of a young child myself, I understand the lack of support women receive during and after pregnancy. I also understand how daunting it can be to make time for yourself as a new mother and to find healthy food choices for your family. I help women navigate these challenges and provide the knowledge and support to help them find the resources they need to feel their best.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Finding time to work on my business and be fully present for my son has its challenges, but I am making it happen, and I am very proud of that.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are many challenges of being a business owner, but for my time, management is my biggest struggle. It can also feel isolating to work alone and not in a busy office if you're a small business owner like myself. Luckily I have linked arms with a global community of like-minded women who proved support and training.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get started. There will never be a perfect time. If you have an idea and a passion take steps towards making it happen. Even if they are very tiny steps, they are steps and will help push you in the right direction.
  2. Do continuous personal development. Your business will grow at the rate you grow, I promise.
  3. Find networking opportunities and/or find training that covers social media. There are many ways to grow a business, but people need to know you exist!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Community is key. Whether it's a like-minded tribe of entrepreneurs who will share ideas with you, it's a community of Mamas who are in the same stages of life as you, or a wellness program with others who are on their health journeys alongside you. Achieving any kind of goal or moving to any new phase of life is very hard if you are isolated. Find like-minded individuals or groups and have them help you stay accountable.
