Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jenay Aiksnoras, Chief Experience Curator of Bliss Experiences LLC., located in South Lake Tahoe, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bliss Experiences and Lake Tahoe Yoga provide wellness tourism opportunities both indoors and outside with the intention of cultivating and customizing them for exploration of nature and self-connection through activities, events, workshops, classes, and adventure guided by local professionals and business owners devoted to self-care and wellbeing.

Tell us about yourself

During my undergraduate studies, I began to explore the practices of Yoga as a way to engage in self-care. As a graduate student, my friend and Yoga mentor encouraged me to undertake her Yoga teacher training. I soon realized that the practices of Yoga and Western therapy combined with time spent outside are a powerful combination. Upon relocating to Lake Tahoe, and while working as a school counselor, I was offered the opportunity to share my passions with the community. I soon became "The Yoga teacher" in town and had to choose between my part-time counseling position and full-time entrepreneurship. I've never looked back. I get to spend every day living and sharing my lifestyle with people who want to feel good and live well.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have struggled, learned, and survived amidst many challenges, including having no business knowledge, opening during a recession, staff opening a competing location, closing my storefront of 11 years, maintaining through pandemic shut-downs, opening a new location during our worst forest fire season, evacuating from my business and home and, now, inflation.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing others with compassion and authenticity.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

If you feel like the work is energetically filling you up, then it's right. If you feel like you are being energetically drained, it's not.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Yoga teachers, life coaches, and wellness providers are everywhere, but not all of them are educated or well-trained. Be discerning and don't hesitate to ask questions when seeking a guide, coach, or support on your path to wellbeing.
