What's your business, and who are your customers?
My partner Holly and I have a combined 29+ years in the beauty industry as Makeup Artists, Custom Blend Specialists, where we can perfectly match any skin tone foundation with all-natural botanical and mineral products with the added benefit of skin repair and anti-aging ingredients, as well as being Salon and Spa Consultants where we can provide a discovery meeting and assist in increasing revenue in a personalized environment.
Tell us about yourself
I had previously run two different companies and helped build them to net over a million dollars a year with my sales and client management. I simply decided that if I could do it for two companies making other people wealthy, why am I not doing it for myself and following the passion of something I enjoy doing instead of what needs to be done! My motivation every day is to leave a legacy to my three children and ten grandchildren.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Earning the trust of our clients to book those weddings and make those brides shine like a diamond on the most important day of their lives! Financially I would have to say that this business has put me in a position to be 100% debt free and able to retire in 5 years when I'm 62, which was my ultimate goal!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Not knowing if the economy will stabilize for people to be able to continue to afford our products and services as they are usually the first to be cut when people have to downsize their expenses.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Do your research! Find something e-commerce (which is an additional branch to our company) so that you can not only get paid while you sleep based on what people are already spending but follow the paradigm shift that is occurring around us as we speak!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The world is shifting to an online platform, and anyone can capitalize on what people need and want. You just have to think outside the box and allow for the ebb and flow of the market. You can succeed, and best of luck to all your entrepreneurial spirits, new and old!
