Tell us about yourself

What started as a side gig became my true passion and calling, and I am a living embodiment of the quote "do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." I am driven each day by the dedication of my team and making people's lives better through movement. I am deeply passionate about making people feel stronger on both the inside and the outside!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a team and a work environment that my staff wants to stay in the long term. There is so much more to leading a business than the books... it all starts and ends with your team morale. This foundation is what the whole thing is built on- from the client experience to the day-to-day management.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Remaining objective and prioritizing the best interest of the business over-emotional or personal interests can be hard in such an intimate and connected environment. You can have truly great people who just don't bring much financial value to the business. You can have challenging people who have a huge following and impact. Taking the time to assess what is best for the business and the clients can be challenging at times!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Recognize that it's not going to be as glamourous as you think! Ultimately the buck stops with you, so be prepared to do all the dirty work (from managing repairs to firing staff) and to wear many hats with a positive mindset!
  2. Focus on your people. Building a strong team morale is the backbone to any successful business. Hire smart and fire fast. The overall attitude of your team can either alleviate or create stress for you daily, so choose people you trust and invest in training them.
  3. Never stop marketing your business! Think of innovative and constant ways to stay top of mind for your community and keep your current clients engaged; this is the key to long-term revenue.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

In small businesses leading from the front seems to be the common dominator in the industries that I see succeed. Staff wants to connect and work harder for someone who is right there with them, can relate, and is willing to show appreciation for their efforts.
